Itsoseng is our pilot project that empowers local youth and women to address socio-economic challenges through “ecopreneurship”—combining business skills training with green economy sectors like urban farming, waste recycling, and biogas systems. The key innovation is low-cost biodigesters that convert organic waste into clean energy and biofertiliser, creating a circular ecosystem that boosts employment, food security, and environmental sustainability. The community-led initiative partners with government, private sector, and academic institutions to demonstrate scalable solutions for low-income urban areas. Itsoseng was showcased at the Future of Sustainability Conference, where stakeholders discussed lessons learned and pathways to economic resilience, social inclusion, and environmental justice.
