From Soil to Soul

Welcome to the SOUL Membership FAQ section. Here, you’ll find answers to common questions about how to apply for membership, and understand the benefits and responsibilities that come with being a part of our work. Whether you’re considering becoming a SOUL Friend, this guide will help you navigate the process and make the most of your membership experience.

What is the process for applying for Membership?

You complete and submit the Application Form. This will be reviewed by the Board at their next monthly meeting. Once your application has been approved you will be sent details of fees and payment options.  Your membership will be activated when you have paid the relevant fees.

Anyone applying to be a SOUL Friend will be approved immediately, and their contact details will be added to the SOUL’s mailing list so that they can receive communications of our activities.

Our target is to respond to your application in 30-60 days depending on the timing of Membership Committee meetings. When your application has been approved you will be sent payment options.

Why is there a Membership fee?

SOUL has been created by a few passionate individuals putting in a lot of hard work and countless hours of volunteering time to build the network since 2018. The membership fee has been put in place to professionalise the social enterprise and to enable SOUL to cover some of its operational costs. We are committed to make Circular Economy related basic knowledge and information freely accessible to the continent and beyond, and through your support we are able continue to drive our mission.

How do I pay my membership fee?

A number of options are available, including direct debit transfers. You will be notified of these options and guidance will be given once your application has been approved.

When is my Membership due for renewal?

Membership are on an annual basis. The annual renewal subscription date is the 1st of March. Should you join after August a pro-rata rate will be charged to February.

Why are fees shown in South African Rand?

Payments for membership fees will be paid into the SOUL bank account at the ABSA Bank in South Africa. This bank will only accept payments in South African Rand (ZAR).

What do I do if I want to cancel my membership?

We hope that you never cancel your membership. Every membership is valid for 12 months. Please reach out to us first (info@soulafrica.org) and share the reasons for your consideration to cancel – we will do our utmost best to address any of your grievances. If you still decide to cancel your membership, please send an email to info@soulafrica.org so we won’t send you a reminder email to renew your membership.
